Dealer Inspection Readiness & Access Policy

Dealer Inspection Readiness Policy | Double Diamond RV Inspection

When Double Diamond RV Inspection performs an inspection at a dealership, our goal is simple: provide the buyer with a thorough, professional, and uncompromised RV inspection.

To do that, the RV must be fully accessible and inspection-ready before our scheduled arrival.

RV inspections depend on proper access to the unit and the availability of key systems such as 120V shore power, 12V battery power, and water. If a dealership has not prepared the unit in advance, certain systems may be delayed, limited, or unable to be tested.

Because our responsibility is to the customer and the integrity of the inspection process, Double Diamond RV Inspection does not perform compromised inspections

What “Inspection-Ready” Means

For a complete dealership-lot inspection, the RV should be ready before the scheduled appointment time, including:

  • Unlocked and accessible
  • Moved to a location where all sides of the RV can be reasonably inspected
  • Connected to active 120V shore power
  • Equipped with installed and operational 12V house batteries
  • Water available for plumbing and fixture testing
(city water connection or onboard fresh water/pump)
  • LP / propane available, when applicable
  • Slides, awnings, leveling systems, and major appliances capable of being operated, where equipped
  • Exterior compartments and utility bays accessible
  • Keys available for entry, storage compartments, and any required access points.

Why This Matters

A proper RV inspection involves much more than a visual walk-around.

Many important systems cannot be fully evaluated unless the unit is prepared in advance, including:

  • Air conditioning and heating performance
  • Refrigerator operation
  • Water heater function
  • Plumbing system pressure and leak checks
  • 12V lighting and control systems
  • Slide-out and awning operation
  • Leveling systems
  • Converter / charger observations
  • Generator-related functions (if equipped)
  • Appliance ignition and safety checks
  • Interior and exterior utility systems

If power, water, battery power, or access are unavailable, those portions of the inspection may be limited or not testable.

Our Standard

Double Diamond RV Inspection will not:

  • guess about system condition
  • mark unavailable systems as “working”
  • skip critical steps and treat the inspection as complete
  • provide misleading conclusions when a unit is not ready

If a required system cannot be tested because the RV is not prepared, that will be clearly documented in the inspection findings as not tested due to unit unpreparedness.

This protects the buyer and preserves the integrity of the inspection.

Dealer-Lot Inspection Delays

We understand that dealership environments can be busy, but units scheduled for third-party inspection should be ready before the appointment begins.

If the RV is not inspection-ready upon arrival:

  • brief delays may be accommodated at our discretion
  • extended delays may result in:
    • limited or incomplete testing
    • rescheduling
    • cancellation of the inspection
    • additional trip or return-visit fees, where applicable

Double Diamond RV Inspection does not remain on-site indefinitely while a unit is being prepared.

Repeat Readiness Issues

If a dealership repeatedly fails to provide inspection-ready units, Double Diamond RV Inspection reserves the right to decline future inspections at that location.

Our priority is always to provide buyers with a professional inspection experience in an environment where the RV can be properly evaluated.

For Buyers

If you are purchasing an RV from a dealership, we strongly recommend confirming in advance that the dealer will have the unit fully prepared for inspection.

This helps ensure:

  • a more complete inspection
  • fewer delays
  • better system testing
  • less risk of missing important findings due to unavailable utilities or access

If needed, we are happy to coordinate inspection-readiness expectations with the dealership prior to the appointment.

Double Diamond RV Inspection Commitment

We are committed to:

  • honest, independent RV inspections
  • thorough system evaluation whenever conditions allow
  • clear documentation of what was and was not tested
  • protecting the buyer through objective reporting
  • refusing to compromise inspection standards for convenience

If the RV is not ready, we will document it.
If a system cannot be tested, we will say so.
If conditions do not support a proper inspection, we will not pretend otherwise.

That is part of the value of an independent inspection.
